PORTLAND, OR — Hinge Digital (www.hingedigital.com) was called on by SBI Media to provide animation services for special episode of NBC’s Community. The live-action sitcom, now in its fifth season, has used animation techniques in the past, including stop-motion for a Christmas episode, and an 8-bit video game style for another episode.
The studio spent several intense weeks working in Adobe Flash to animate the intro, creating over a minute and a half of G.I. Joe-style animation for the show. Hinge EP, Roland Gauthier says, “It was awesome working on the G.I. Joe episode with the team at SBI Media. It is not often you have the chance to breathe new creative life into an animated series from your childhood. The result looked great and was hilarious!”
