CULVER CITY, CA — Zoic Studios, with locations here and in Vancouver, received an Emmy nomination for its work on the CW sci-fi series The 100. The show is nominated in the “Outstanding Special and Visual Effects” category.
Zoic Studios executive creative director/co-founder Andrew Orloff serves as digital effects supervisor and Michael Cliett serves as VFX supervisor on the series. The visual effects are created by Zoic Studios in LA and BC. To create the post-apocalyptic Earth in The 100, Zoic’s Cliett led a team to craft a wide range of menacing creatures, including a two-headed deer, a mutant panther and radioactive butterflies. The team also created numerous shots of the Ark space station that floats around the Earth.
Additionally, Zoic’s Steve Melchiorre and Michael Cliett were nominated for their roles as VFX producer and VFX lead, respectively, on the new Fox sci-fi/crime drama series Almost Human.
