PORTLAND, OR — Bent Image Lab (www.bentimagelab.com) has brought in VFX executive Jeff Barnes to oversee the company’s new digital media group. Barnes is a co-founder of CafeFX, The Syndicate and past Digital Domain VP. He will now work with the Bent team to develop creative messaging for alternative medium portals such as cell phones, tablets, touch screens and special venue experiences implementing AR, pixel mapping and other new technologies. He will also provide management and business development support for the company’s growing VFX division.
“It is a whole new world of opportunity for unique ways of telling stories and promoting products through alternative viewing spaces,” says Barnes. “I have known the team at Bent for years and have always been impressed with their high level of creativity and unique approaches to production. They have amazing talent here and we will continually strive to set a new level in the industry.”
Bent began as a stop motion, mixed media and CGI house, and will be expanding its efforts with the launch of the new media division.
Barnes’ client list includes Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Columbia Pictures, Fox, AT&T and McDonalds, among many others. His feature credits span more than 85 films, including Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Iron Man, Evan Almighty, Spider-Man 3, Pan’s Labyrinth and Sin City.
