ANAHEIM, CA — San Francisco-based Tweak Software (www.tweaksoftware.com) will unveil RV 4.0 at the SIGGRAPH conference in Anaheim from July 23 to 25. Version 4.0 is a major update to RV, the image and sequence viewer for VFX and animation professionals. Studios such as ILM, MPC, Weta Digital are using RV for powering image playback and review.
Version 4.0 combines features for playback, review, and collaboration with a new generation of features that enable artists, production teams, and studios to review film resolution digital imagery accurately, in context, and integrated seamlessly with modern workflows and far-flung production models.
RV 4.0 is built on top of the RVX Core, a new hardware-accelerated image processing architecture that combines fast IO, resolution-independent image handling, hardware accelerated floating point image processing, and advanced color management. The RVX Core also adds a new dimension to RV's customizability: user programmable GPU image processing operations (GLSL shaders) that can be integrated into custom RV workflows.
RV 4.0 will be available to existing users under maintenance or for $299, or bundled with RVIO for $399. Licenses can float among workstations or be installed on a single computer. Authoring custom shaders will require a separate development license of RVX ($995). This will enable users to author and publish shaders for use in any other RV based product (RV, RV-SDI, RVIO).
