NEW YORK - Toronto-based Mr.X (www.mrxfx.com) will expand to New York City with the opening of a new visual effects facility this fall. The 4,000 square foot space will be set up to handle the creation of photoreal CG creatures, CG environments, VFX, and compositing for both traditional and 3D formats.
President Dennis Berardi believes New York has numerous aspects that make it a good fit for the company, including competitive tax incentives and an established film industry. MR.X Toronto, which has been in operation for 12 years and has 70 films to its credit, will provide pipeline and rendering resources to the new facility. The new location will have 35 seats, and will be headed by VFX supervisor/producer Eric Robertson, whose career spans more than 20 years.
The studio's first job will be work on The Mortal Instruments.
