The Foundry offers big discounts for students, teachers

LONDON — The Foundry (www.thefoundry.co.uk) is opening its arms to students and educators by offering a discount of more than 95 percent on their pro VFX software solutions, including Nuke X, Mari and Hiero (when it’s released). The Foundry has always worked closely with colleges and universities and this takes it a step further.

The new licensing policy is designed to allow educators to teach their students on the most up to date versions of The Foundry’s pro software, providing them with the best possible preparation for work.

The Foundry is also launching a Student Stars Vimeo channel to showcase the best student work made with their software. "Students studying VFX are the future of our industry,” says CEO, Bill Collis. “We wanted to help them and our customers by providing an affordable way for them to access the software, which potential employers expect them to use once employed.  They can now take advantage of online training resources and work on their show reels and own projects outside of school grounds, improving their skill set and making them more attractive to future employers.”

“One of the constants at VFS is ensuring that whenever possible we can emulate the ‘real world’ within our educational model,” says Marty Hasselbach, managing director, Vancouver Film School. “The Foundry are at the cutting edge of software development and are therefore world leaders of innovation in visual effects. I believe that it goes without saying that we need it integrated here and we’re happy that through this partnership we’ve been able to do just that.”
