CHICAGO — On August 25, an expert panel of top voiceover actors, talent agents, casting directors and ad executives will come together for That’s Voiceover! (http://thatsvoiceover.com), a seminar designed for those seeking a career on VO acting. Contributions from the event will benefit The Alzheimer’s Association, and one lucky audience member will win a voiceover job announcing an NBC 5 promo.
The hands-on event will be hosted by “Secrets of Voice-over Success” author Joan Baker and NBC 5 entertainment reporter Leeann Trotter, both of whom will offer practical career guidance. The event will include an American Idol-styled audition, complete with judging.
Attendees will have an opportunity to meet and hear from VO talent that have worked on movie trailers, TV & radio ads for Disney Animation, The Simpsons, The Oscars, The Emmys, American Idol, the NBC Olympic Games, HBO, Showtime, Verizon Wireless, BET and ESPN. The pros will separate fact from fiction about breaking into the industry.
Rudy Gaskins, co-creator of That’s Voiceover!, says “Voiceover acting is an intriguing career opportunity that’s growing at an enormous rate. Because of its largely anonymous existence, it’s very difficult for newcomers to get information and training from reputable sources. We fill that gap.”
The event is being produced by NYC’s Push Creative Advertising and will be held at the Harris Theater, located at 205E. Randolph Drive in Chicago, beginning at 10:30am. Sponsors include SAG AFTRA, Back Stage, Sennheiser Electronics, Stewart Talent Agency, the Alzheimer’s Association, Swissotel, and Neumann Microphone Company.
