Showtime renews Alexis-shot 'Nurse Jackie' for fifth season
NEW YORK — Showtime's Nurse Jackie, which has been renewed for a fifth season, has a new showrunner as well. After his run as the executive producer and showrunner of the Showtime drama series Dexter, Peabody Award-winner and Emmy Award-nominee Clyde Phillips has been tapped for this New York-based show, which is shot on Arri Alexa cameras.
Nurse Jackie stars Edie Falco as Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed – but flawed – emergency room nurse.
“Clyde brings a unique combination of skills in both comedy and drama, and he is a master at making entertaining and compelling television,” says David Nevins, president of entertainment, Showtime Networks.
Phillips was executive producer and showrunner on the first four seasons of Dexter. Prior to that, he created “Get Real,” which starred Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg, “Suddenly Susan,” and “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.”
