LOS ANGELES — Composer Kevin Riepl (www.kevinrieplmusic.com) has created a dramatic and festive original score for Anchor Bay Film's upcoming release Silent Night. Directed by Steven C. Miller, Silent Night is a loosly-interpreted remake of the horror classic Silent Night, Deadly Night, and stars Malcolm McDowell, Jaime King, Donal Logue, Lisa Marie, Brendan Fehr and Ellen Wong.
McDowell and King star as a small-town sheriff and deputy on the hunt for a murderous Santa Claus, who terrorizes their community on Christmas Eve. But with the streets full of Santas for the annual Christmas parade, the killer is hiding in plain sight.
Riepl's seasonal horror score includes dark ambient chills, orchestral thrills and holiday sleigh bells. The score was just released by Paleblue Soundtracks on iTunes, and the film will hit screens in ten major metropolitan areas on November 30. The Blu-ray/DVD combo and DVD will be available to unwrap nationwide on December 4.
"Kevin's score is visceral, emotional, and straight up brutal,” says director Miller. “Working with him has clearly elevated the film."
The score includes more than 20 cues, with titles such as "Santa Suits Up,” "The House, “They See Dead People" and “Santa Brawl."
