BURBANK, CA — The Society of Camera Operators (www.soc.org) will honor new products and technologies that have made a distinct contribution to the art and craft of the camera operator at the 2012 Society of Camera Operators Lifetime Achievement Awards, scheduled to take place Sunday, February 19, 2012.
The event will be held at the Leonard Goldenson Theater at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Campus in North Hollywood. Submissions are being evaluated and decided upon by members of the SOC Technical Standards committee. Past recipients have helped camera operators shoot in every environment, from under the ocean to the surface of the moon.

Stephens, Louma Crane, Matthews Studio Equipment and Bob Nettmann, Nelson Tyler, OConnor, Panavision, Inc. and Albert Mayer, Sr., Preston Cinema Systems, Sachtler, Shotmaker Company, Slit Scan Motion Picture Photography Process, Sony Corporation, Technocrane, Ltd., Tiffen, Inc. and Steadicam Ultra2, Ultimate Arm Gyro Stabilized Camera Crane, Vinten, and Weaver/Steadman.
The Society of Camera Operators Lifetime Achievement Awards also serves as the SOC’s primary fundraiser for the Vision Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, which the SOC has proudly supported since its charter in 1981, having to date donated over $160,000.
