VANCOUVER — Pixar animator Carlos Baena, who co-founded the Emeryville, CA-based online animation school, Animation Mentor, is participating in a number of events at this year’s SIGGRAPH show. Baena has worked on features such as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, Wall-E and Toy
Story 3. He, along with three fellow mentors, will be at the Animation Mentor (
AnimationMentor.com) booth, where the company is giving away a limited number of custom designed QR code t-shirts. When scanned, the QR code will lead viewers to Animation Mentor’s public Website.
“This is a really good opportunity to meet up with great artists and students from all over," says Baena. "I'm excited to share my experiences as an animator/artist as well as learn what inspires this generation of animators."
On Sunday, Baena participated in a seminar, hosted by Autodesk, geared toward students. And on Tuesday, he will be a featured panelist at the DreamWorks Educators’ Symposium. The event will be held at Simon Fraser University’s Work Center for Dialogue.
