LOS ANGELES — IMAX Corporation (www.imax.com) has signed an agreement with Paramount Pictures to release four of the studio's tent-pole films in 2011. The four films include Super 8 (June 10), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (July 1), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (December 16) and The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (December 28).
Sony Pictures Entertainment is co-production partner on The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, and Sony Pictures Releasing International (SPRI) will handle distribution and marketing in most key territories overseas.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon and The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn were both originally shot in 3D and will be digitally re-mastered into IMAX's format for presentation in IMAX 3D.
Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol is the fourth chapter in the franchise and will feature scenes shot with IMAX cameras. These sequences, exclusively in IMAX, will expand on the screen to further immerse the audience.
