NEW YORK — The design competition Cut&Paste is now seeking entries. The contest returns to 12 cities this year and will culminate with a championship event in New York City.
Cut&Paste is open to all designers. They are invited to apply for the city tournament of their choice. Competitors can prove their skills in one of several qualifying events and each city will crown one champion in three categories: 2D, 3D, and motion/animation design. The top competitors win a trip to New York in March to compete in the Cut&Paste Global Championship.
Unlike passive, submission-based contests, this event requires competitors to perform live, onstage, before big-name brands and a raucous audience. Cut&Paste expects competitors to put on a show, not only on-screen, but onstage, bringing props, friends and social media tie-ins.
Sponsor Adobe has prepared an online Training Room that includes a collection of secrets and Adobe CS5 training videos that can help artists in honing their skills. Judges will evaluate each design based upon adherence to the competition brief, strength of concept, originality, aesthetic and technique.
Competing cities include Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Tel Aviv, London, Berlin, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai. Visit the Cut&Paste Website (www.cutandpaste.com) to learn more.
