VANCOUVER FILM SCHOOL PRESENTS 'WOMEN IN GAMES' SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship was introduced in February as a means to support and foster talented female game designers in an industry traditionally dominated by male gamers and designers. Lee will have the opportunity to experience one intensive year learning every facet of game design, from game theory to level design to game interface design. The program’s curriculum reflects a professional game development and production environment, so that when she graduates, she will be prepared to begin a career in the game industry.
In addition to the Women in Games Scholarship, VFS also awarded six other scholarships, ranging from $2,500 to $7,000, thanks to the contribution by a number of Game Design Expo 2009 sponsors. Five of the six recipients of these scholarships are women.
