NAB ANNOUNCES 'CONTENT THEATER' LINE-UP

Pixar Animation Studios will present a case study titled “Pixar Stereoscopic.” Two Disney Pixar films are being released in Disney Digital 3D in 2009 and the case study will examine the use of 3D in Pixar's storytelling, the process developed for resurrecting and converting 14-year-old images to release Toy Story in 3D, and the production pipeline designed for Disney Pixar's first feature film in 3D, Up. The speakers will be Josh Hollander, director of stereoscopic production, and Bob Whitehill, stereoscopic supervisor.

The Jim Henson Company will present a case study titled “Jim Henson's Creature Shop - performing animated characters in real time.” Kerry Shea, head of digital production will demonstrate the technology from Jim Henson's Creature Shop that allows puppeteers to perform animated characters in realtime by combining mechanical input technology, motion capture and a proprietary real time viewer. The session will feature Sid, the star of the PBS Kids’ animated preschool series Sid the Science Kid.

The Animal Planet "Walk the Lion" case study will look at the upcoming series in which large predator expert Dave Salmoni spent six months living among a pride of lions in Africa. Salmoni will talk about the technology and production techniques that were used to create the documentary.

Robin Leach will host Content Theater on Tuesday, April 21. Leach is a founder of Vegas HD, a full scale Las Vegas television production facility offering full digital fiber connectivity from prime Las Vegas locations, and VegasDeluxe.com, the premier destination for all Las Vegas celebrity news. Leach began his TV career simultaneously on KABC-TV in Los Angeles and WABC-TV in New York. In 1980, he joined CNN's People Tonight and also helped launch Entertainment Tonight. In 1983, he created Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, which ran 14 years.
