IMAGINARY FORCES CREATES CLOSING TITLES FOR 'NIM'S ISLAND'

The animated titles were spearheaded by IF art director Sean Koriakin and IF producer Kathy Kelehan, and capture the whimsical nature of Nim’s imagination. A live-action beach scene quickly transitions to a paper cut-out animated world where scenes move from one the next, each revealing the island environment and its animal inhabitants. A whale swallows a boat, a volcano erupts, a sea otter playfully swims below the surface, an iguana catches a ride on the back of a giant turtle and a seagull helps rescue a stranded boater.

The studio worked closely with directors Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett to incorporate complementary design elements and palettes from the film into the end titles. The challenge was creating the different CG characters and transitions within a short timeframe, and making them appear as if constructed from paper.

The IF team used Autodesk Maya and Adobe After Effects as their main design tools on the project. Autodesk Flame was used for compositing.
