HPA JUDGE'S AWARD TO RECOGNIZE POST CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
The HPA Judges Award was conceived in recognition of the intensely creative, technology-fueled and challenging environment that content creators, post facilities, experts, and manufacturers operate in. Throughout the first three years of the Awards, judges often saw innovative ideas, products and processes that did not fit into any awards category, but were nonetheless noteworthy. The Judge's Award offers an opportunity to acknowledge innovative thinking in the areas of new tools, workflows and ideas.
The event will take place at the Skirball Cultural Center. Digital Film Tree is being recognized for its modern data-centric post network and workflow, which was used by CBS/Paramount Television on the series Everybody Hates Chris.
LaserPacific Media Corporation is being recognized for AccurateImage, a color calibrated end-to-end motion picture process that provides Digital Cinema quality dailies that look like film.
And Sony Pictures Imageworks is being recognized for Beowulf 3D's stereoscopic post-production pipeline. The proprietary pipeline was created for the production of the stereoscopic 3D adaptation of "Beowulf" for both IMAX and digital 3D theaters.
The HPA Awards will also honor Elizabeth Daley (The Charles S. Swartz Award); Ron Burdett (Lifetime Achievement Award); and Quantel, FastSoft and Panasonic (The Engineering Excellence Award). The event will be hosted by actor /director Wil Shiner.
