GOLDCREST POSTS AUDIO FOR MIKE LEIGH'S 'HAPPY-GO-LUCK'
Robert Farr and Mark Paterson served as re-recording mixers on the
project, while Andy Thompson and Anthony Bayman handled ADR recording.
The mix was done using an AMS Neve DFC2 console, and the entire mix was
kept virtual right through to the final mix stage.
The Goldcrest team made use of Lexicon 960 and TC Electronic 6000
reverbs, along with a noise reduction system from Cedar Audio. In all,
four Digidesign Pro Tools systems were used on the job, running
playback for dialogue, music, effects/atmospheres, and Foley/car
interior segments.
“Mike Leigh’s filmmaking leaves no stone unturned so we had to rise to
the same challenge with the soundtrack,” says re-recording mixer Mark
Paterson. “We focused largely on detail with the goal of creating an
exciting theatrical soundtrack that wasn't based on the clichés that
can often be associated with commercial films. The principle was
applied right from the early stages by the supervising sound editor
Nigel Stone with no detail, however subtle, being overlooked.”
