CHACE RENOVATES MIX THEATRE
The 850-square-foot Rick Chace Theatre opened in 1997 and has served as the mixing site for numerous DVD releases, as well as theatrical re-relsease. Lawrence of Arabia, The Sound of Music and Gone With the Wind are a few of the titles that have been remixed for DVD in the theatre.
At the center of the Rick Chace Theatre is a fully-automated, 80-input Harrison SeriesTwelve console, featuring an analog signal path. The stage also features a 10x18-foot screen, as well as a full range of outboard gear, including Lexicon 480L reverbs, SPL Vitalyzers, Dolby Cat 43s, Urei 1178s and Allison filters. A newly upgraded Digidesign Pro Tools|HD 3 Accel system, featuring 96 outputs, is paired with the Harrison console to deliver over 150 channels. Video playback is integrated with Pro Tools and the system is capable of playing back all resolutions of HD and SD formats.
Aesthetic renovations to the theater include a new acoustic-tiled ceiling, new wall fabric, and new flooring. Two levels of client seating have been installed behind the mixing station to offer enhanced viewing. A 14-foot desk spans the first level, providing plenty of space for clients to work. The second level is equipped with theatrical-style seating.
The Producers’ Room has also been remodeled to include additional desk space, a large sofa, and a fully-stocked refrigerator.
Chace refined and upgraded three of its near-field mix suites last year, giving them new lighting, HD plasma displays and video projection. The rooms are capable of mixing up to 7.1 channels to support Blu-ray Disc and similar HD media. Recent projects completed in these studios include near-field mixes for The Notebook, The Upside of Anger, The Number 23 and Blade: The Series.
