BEATSTREET OPENS NEW MIX SUITE
Beatstreet's Joe Franco contacted Bowman when space opened up on the floor directly below the existing studio. The mandate was to integrate a control room, isolation booth, client lounge, kitchen, machine room, and additional record/edit suite into the new space, as well as tie it into the floor above.
The new mix suite is based around Digidesign's Pro Tools Accel system and an ICON D-Control console. The room is set up for 5.1 surround work and includes two sets of monitors, allowing the engineer to switch between his sweet spot and the raised client area. A 65-inch widescreen HD LCD provides video monitoring and an Equi-tech balanced power solution provides 100 amps, helping to eliminate power fluctuations that can occur in large buildings with elevators and air conditioning units. Beatstreet backs up its six Pro Tools rigs through the use of Studio Network Solutions' A/V SAN Pro fibre storage system.
Client amenities include a lounge with television, DVD, Blu-ray and PlayStation 3. The lounge can also connect to the suite next door, allowing clients to watch and listen to a mix in progress.
Beatstreet is currently working on two new children's series, Word World (PBS) and Ni Hao Kai-lan (Nick Jr.). The studio mixes and creates sound design for Word World - including a 5.1 mix for DVD release - and handles music underscoring for Ni Hao Kai-lan. The facility is also responsible for music and audio post for the upcoming PBS series Lomax, the Hound of Music and Sesame Workshop's new clay-animated series, The Adventures of Bert & Ernie. Additionally, Beatstreet has started recording voiceovers for the upcoming Noggin series Team Umizoomis.
Outside of the children's television realm, Beatstreet recently handled ADR for an episode of 30 Rock, as well as mixed several DVDs for A&E's Paranormal State.
