AVID UNVEILS 'NEW THINKING' INITIATIVE
To begin, Avid is merging its Xpress Pro software into the Media
Composer product line and lowing the price of its entry-level Media
Composer to $2,495, down from $4,995. Existing Xpress Pro customers are
being offered a pathway to upgrade ($495) to Media Composer software.
In addition, new student pricing for Media Composer software has been
announced: $295.
Today, Avid launched a new online community – www.community. Avid.com –
where editors will be able to post portfolios, share videos, network,
participate in blogs and search for jobs. Users can also share tips and
tricks, as well as view tutorials.
Online customer support has also been enhanced, giving customers easier
access to more accurate and personalized answers without having to
actually call Customer Support. Avid technical experts reviewed and
updated more than 10,000 pieces of content with the goal of making it
easier for customers to search for information and effectively resolve
technical issues.
While Avid will not have formal space on the show floor at April’s NAB
Show, the company will be hosting customer meetings and appreciation
events in Las Vegas that week, and has suggested the possibility of new
product announcements as well.
