Team Sound & Vision created :10, :15, :20 and :30 promos for the package,
following the theme, "This place is like no other." Each uses stunning imagery
to quickly reveal the uniqueness of the islands and their inhabitants.
"The challenge for these promos was to make the amazing cinematography seem
bigger than life without calling attention to some obvious device," explains
senior editor Ian Rummer. "We were able to come up with very fluid edits
linking the action of the content where it wouldn't take away from the natural
beauty of the camera work."
The promos focus on a number of wildlife scenes in which images elegantly
illuminate the narrative. They were offlined in an Avid by Team's senior editor
Thuy Dinh, and were onlined with a Quantel eQ multi-resolution editing, visual effects
and color correction system. The eQ's multi-resolution toolset enabled the
studio to deliver all of the required resolutions and formats.
According to Rummer, each shot received multiple cascades of color correction
via Q Color, using animated masks to target specific areas of the frame. "We
also used Color Fettle," he notes, "which allowed us a unique way to isolate,
balance and contrast values within the native color space."
