HAMBURG, GERMANY - Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH (www.steinberg.net) has introduced Nuendo 4,
featuring new functionality that accelerates and enhances workflows by
increasing efficiency and speed.
Version 4, says the company, is geared specifically toward
audio post and studio production, and rounds out Steinberg’s list of audio
offerings that also includes Cubase (for musicians and composers), WaveLab (for
audio editors and mastering engineers), and Sequel (for entry-level music
enthusiasts).
Nuendo 4 now features a new automation system as well as a
new preview mode, fill commands and punch logs. Fill commands allow for writing
automation to end, start, punch or loop. The multi-functional preview mode
helps find the right parameters and changes multiple settings at once.
The MediaBay file management system for audio, video and
other media files can replace external FX database solutions as it browses,
archives, retrieves and searches media files across any connected drive.
An upgraded set of 38 surround- and sidechaining-capable
VST3 audio effect plug-ins is included, covering dynamics, spatial FX and
filtering.
Audio post features have been improved with commands for
moving, placing and trimming audio faster. The Post Filter allows users to
remove unwanted noises from elements, such as location recordings. Recording
and routing options have been improved, allowing users to record audio from any
summing object, such as groups or FX returns. Common recording configurations,
such as stems and print master recording, are now easy to setup, eliminating
the need to route audio outside the system.
Nuendo 4 is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and
both Intel and PPC-based Macintosh computers running Mac OS10.4. It’s priced at
$1799.99.
