The production is an ensemble comedy that revolves around a liquor
store and a central character named Wilson, who falls in love with the store
owner’s daughter and then tries to convince the two that an angry employee is
going to terrorize the business.
The project was shot in 1080p HD using Panasonic HPX-3000
cameras, recording to P2 cards, and was both offlined and onlined in Final Cut
Studio 2.0, Version 6.0.1.
Dive’s executive producer Andy Williams and director of technology Bob Pyle
collaborated with the movie’s producers, developing the most efficient and
economical DI workflow for the film.
“Our infrastructure and our interest in designing the workflow enabled this
project to be produced from start to finish in 1080p HD,” explains Williams.
“We are a tech-savvy, indie-friendly company [that] makes the experience
a partnership with the filmmaker.”
On the set, the crew downloaded all of their media and then transported it to
Dive's facility via FireWire 800 shuttle drives. Overnight, the data was moved
onto Dive's Bright Systems SAN, where it was edited in full 1080p HD
resolution. The media required approximately 3 Terabytes worth of storage
space.
The filmmakers then took the media offsite to complete their edit, and, upon
completion, the final, full-resolution sequence returned to Dive for the
DI. The digital intermediate took place in Dive’s digital cinema suite which
features a da Vinci Resolve RT system. It was mastered to HDCAM SR.
Adele Romanski cut the feature with Sean Maher assisting. Janet Falcon served
as colorist.
