Prime Focus Group's services include visual effects, DI,
film scanning, film recording, telecine, editing, motion control production
and HD production. The acquisition adds facilities in Los Angeles, New York,
Vancouver and Winnipeg, along with ownership of 55,000 square feet of real
estate in Hollywood and 200 staff members.
The deal is part of an effort for Prime Focus Group to
become a leading visual effects and post production service provider in each
local market. India locations service the country's thriving two-billion dollar
film industry. Its London facilities service European film and television
projects. Here in North America, its studios will continue to service the
domestic film market.
Post Logic Studios (www.postlogic.com)
has offices in both Hollywood and New York. The studio specializes in digital
intermediate and image science work for independent and studio feature clients.
Recently, the studio provided services for the films Halloween, American
Gangster, Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Phoebe in Wonderland, Smart People and Elite Squad.
Frantic Films (www.franticfilms.com)
is an effects company with offices in Los Angeles, Vancouver and Winnipeg.
Prime Focus Group will also be acquiring Frantic Films Software, the company's
R&D division that develops and markets VFX software solutions. Frantic
Films has worked on a number of high profile features, including Fantastic
Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer, Grindhouse, Superman Returns, X-Men 3 and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.
Frantic Films's live-action production/post production
facilities and television commercial division are not part of the acquisition
and will continue to operate independently out of Winnipeg and Toronto,
Canada.
Prime Focus Group plans to continue operations of both Post
Logic Studios and Frantic Films as independent facilities, providing both
companies with access to a talent pool of over 400 visual effects artists
worldwide.
