The music video uses a seamless blend of artist performance
and Ugly Betty footage. Watts wrote a
concept around the idea that people are the most beautiful in their natural
state.
"Jon [Watts] figured out a way to tie in the show
footage into the narrative of the music video," explains Parham. "Key
to this project was maintaining a balance between the video and show footage so
it didn't seem random, and would flow organically."
Prior to the shoot, Watts and Parham sifted through DVDs of
the show to select shots that would act as transitions to the performance
footage.
"The initial cut was done within two days, but we were
given the freedom by ABC to pull any shots from the entire season to
incorporate into the video," Parham notes.
The music video was cut on an Avid Media Composer
Adrenaline. VFX and online were handled by Bert Yukich at LA’s Kroma. Bob
Curreri at Riot served as colorist.
