The eQ FX is designed specifically for post and broadcast users, providing
tools for working with multiple resolutions. The system comes with 160 minutes
of HD workspace; TimeMagic no-wait hardware; and the QColor in-context color-grading
package.
CBC Media is using the eQ FX for finishing and effects, as well as for offline
and graphics work system. Senior editor Brad Wensley posts nearly 100 HD spots
a year for P. C. Richard and Son, a New York-based appliance and electronics
retailer. All of the company's spots are shot on the Sony F-900 HD camera and
ingested into the eQ FX where the editing and compositing is completed at HD
resolution.
Wensley says spots consist of 30-50 layers of animation and
effects. Shines and particle effects are often added too through the use of plug-ins.
