According to Hart Shafer, senior product manager, Adobe audio products, the latest release has a focus on new creative possibilities, with improvements to workflow and editing efficiency.
MIDI support is one of the most notable new features for Audition. VTSi virtual instruments are also now supported, and three are included with the latest version. Four new effects have been added: reverb, delay, compressor and a mastering tool. Radius time stretch has been included too, through integration with Isotope. And Guitar Suite allows users to add analog flavor to digital tracks.
Editing performance has been improved, as Audition is now optimized for quad-core machines. Channel strips can be assigned to different cores and multitrack editing has been improved with fast fades and auto crossfades. A number of restoration tools have been added as well.
Audition will ship in Q4 (Windows XP and Vista). The application will be priced at $349 and upgrades will cost $99.
