Dolby will help optimize Activision's North American facilities so that more
titles can be delivered in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
Activision worked closely with Dolby last year to optimize its Xbox 360 game, Call
of Duty 2, for Dolby Digital 5.1. Today,
many of the company's games for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 feature Dolby
Digital 5.1.
"Gamers today want the realism and full emotional impact
that only rich surround sound can deliver," says Activision's director of audio
Adam Levenson. "Our partnership with Dolby is an important step we are
taking to bring the very best game play experiences to gamers around the
world."
"We are glad to be working so closely with a major publisher
like Activision to help the company deliver more vivid and engaging
surround sound experiences to gamers," said Douglas Greenfield, Senior
Director, Production Services Group, Dolby Laboratories. "In the
high-definition era, games need to sound as good as they look. By optimizing
its audio production facilities for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound,
Activision can bring gamers more of the great sound they demand."
