His recent credits include work on the successful Pixar film, Cars,
and on Paramount Pictures' upcoming film, Charlotte's Web.
Summers' career began in 1979, when he was employed by LucasFilm Ltd., as a
sound assistant on The Empire Strikes Back. In 1983, he served as a re-recording mixer on The Return of
the Jedi, which earned him his first
Academy Award nomination. He later went on to win awards for Best Sound work on
Saving Private Ryan (1998), Titanic (1997), Jurassic Park (1993) and Terminator 2 (1993).
In 2003, he began working as an independent re-recording mixer, working on
films such as The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Finding Nemo,
Mystic River, Cars and The Lord
of the Rings: The Return of the King. His
recent work on Charlotte's Web,
mixed on Stage 2 at Todd-AO West
with re-recording mixer Scott Millan, sparked his interest in joining
the company.
Summers will work primarily on Stage 1 at Todd-AO Hollywood, which features an
AMS Neve/DFC console. The stage has access to the Soundelux sound library
of more than 330,000 sound effects.
