NDI’s “Win with Women Initiative” was launched in December 2003 by former Secretary of State and NDI chairman Madeleine K. Albright to promote women's political participation.
With crews on the ground in Yemen and Bosnia, director of photography Reuben Aaronson and producer Jeanine Butler combed the war-torn streets where they documented the stories of women working to bridge the bitter ethnic divide, using the political process to heal wounds.
Park Group produced the project in 24p DV with Aaronson shooting on a Panasonic DVX100. The program was offlined by Bill Gaff on an Avid system and was in a Quantel Editbox by David Trownsell. David Swain created graphics using a 2GHz Power Mac G5 running Adobe After Effects 6.5, Photoshop CS and Illustrator CS. The program was sound designed, scored and mixed by Alfred Walker using a Digidesign Pro Tools DAW.
The video premiered at NDI’s annual meeting and will be distributed as a fund-raising piece. Jeanine Butler is producing the project, with Bill Gaff editing and Alfred Walker composing the score.
