The animals are able to party well into the night, thanks to the boost the get from Mountain Dew MDX.
BBC Motion Gallery provided seven shots to BBDO/New York, including clips of a bush baby, snake, possum, bat and flying squirrel. The footage was then processed digitally to look as if the animals were being viewed through night-vision goggles. The green color reinforces the night-vision theme and the shade of the energy drink itself.
Consultant Susan Nickerson of Nickerson Research liaised with BBCMG to obtain the needed shots. Framestore CFC in New York provided digital effects for the spot, making the creatures look as if they were lip-syncing to the Lionel Ritchie tune. The commercial was edited by Tom Muldoon at Nomad in Santa Monica. Tim Masick at Company 3 in New York handled color correction.
Nomad’s Francois Blaignon provided sound design and Tom Jucarone at Sound Lounge in New York City handled the final mix.
