The studio used the established color palette from Alien Planet's print campaign as a starting point and then created an ethereal white environment where the rotoscoped CG aliens would interact. Signal distortions were incorporated in the promos to suggest a fragmented video feed coming from far away.
Sound design and Linda Hunt's raspy voiceover help establish the promos' unsettling tone. They conclude with the aliens surging through the 3D Alien Planet logo and stomping it to pieces. The explosion of the 3D animated logo was complicated in that each piece had to be animated individually to look realistic, all while being designed in six different languages.
Once the sequence was cut to music on an Avid, designers used Adobe After Effects to create the 3D environment for the aliens and the typography. Maxon Cinema 4D was then used to create all 3D elements, including the logo and typo.
