A52 RECREATES WHAMMY FOR 'PRESS YOUR LUCK'

SANTA MONICA - "Big bucks, Big bucks. No Whammys, No Whammys!" Some will remember this hopeful chant from the 1980s game show "Press Your Luck." Well, the show has been re-made for the Game Show Network and we again this chant will be repeated 100 times each show while viewers sadistically root against the contestants.

If you don't remember, players picked a section of a game board, pressed a button in hopes to win cash or a prize. But if they land on a Whammy, an animated wolf-like character dances across the screen and depletes all the contestants' money in a variety of comedic ways.

For the remake of the show, technology-based ad agency The Content Project enlisted WIT Animation in Venice to design the show's graphics package including an updated look for the Whammy character. The Content Project and WIT designed the look of the Whammy and modeled and animated it using Discreet's 3D Studio Max. In development of the show, the Whammy took on a larger significance and was used in promos and is rendered in Flash animation for the show's Web site.
