GRACE & WILD INCREASES HD CAPABILITIES WITH DISCREET

DETROIT - Post facility Grace & Wild (www.gracewild.com) has boosted its high definition visual effects and editorial capabilities with the purchase of three Discreet Flame V.8 visual effects system upgrades, plus Discreet's Smoke V.5 HD for nonlinear editing, conforming and finishing. With an increasing prevalence of HD production formats among its clients Grace & Wild sought to increase its online HDTV capabilities to handle the full range of SDTV, HDTV formats and film resolutions.

"To run a successful business you need to offer clients as much versatility as possible," says Grace & Wild's president, Steve Wild. "With Flame 8, features like simultaneous multi-resolution compositing, enhanced speed, easy integration with our existing equipment and efficient cooperative workflow are clear advantages in the modern commercial marketplace."

With this investment, Grace & Wild broadens its position to provide total HD production resources from start to finish. Discreet systems offer the capability of working at the highest resolutions, from HDTV to film resolution media, as well as the full range of standard video formats. The company is increasingly dealing with shortform projects, such as TV commercials, requiring HD 24p acquisition and post production, and is also anticipating a trend in shooting HDTV in lieu of film for longform work.
