LOS ANGELES — On Wednesday, March 10th, the Los Angeles Post Production Group will host LightBender founder and colorist Juan Cabrera, CSI, who will discuss his color grading and finishing workflow for the second season of TNT’s The Alienist: Angel of Darkness. The Zoom webinar will take place at 5pm (PST) and will detail how Cabrera built a non-destructive and efficient finishing pipeline that allowed him to be both agile and flexible throughout the whole process. His work included conforming, color grading and preparing all the final deliverables for the popular TNT series, which was nominated for best color at last year’s HPA Awards.
Cabrera started his career in Madrid 24 years ago, working as a VFX supervisor and animator. After 11 years in the VFX industry, he evolved his career towards color and finishing. His background in visual effects helped him immensely with the technical side of color grading and color science, and that's how he discovered SGO and Mistika technology. He has worked with Mistika since Version 1, and has been an active beta-tester.
Some of his credits include Prometheus, Amazing Spiderman, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Transformers: Age of Extinction and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, for which he won two Advanced Imaging Society Awards. On the television side he has worked on shows that include Sony’s StartUp and Microsoft's Quantum Break, in addition to The Alienist: Angel of Darkness for TNT.
