Ex’pression College grads contribute to Oscar nominees

EMERYVILLE, CA — Eight graduates of Ex’pression College (www.expression.edu) worked on films that were nominated for Oscars at this year’s 87th Academy Awards ceremony, which was held on February 22.

In the Animated Feature category, Hubert Leo ’08 served as an associate technical animation supervisor on Big Hero 6, which took home top honors. Omar Garcia ‘09 was a technical resource administrator on How to Train Your Dragon 2. And for The Boxtrolls, Jorge Heredia ‘07 (digital paint and roto paint artist), Kane Brassington ’02 (stereo paint fix artist), and Curtis Zinn ‘09 (roto paint artist) all contributed.

In the Visual Effects category, Sam Baker ‘04 and Dan Kunz ’11 worked on nominee, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. And Stephen Urata ’11 served as assistant re-recording mixer for two Oscar-nominated films: Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, both of which were nominated for VFX honors.
