Dive handling VFX for HBO's 'The Leftovers'

NEW YORK — Dive (www.divevisual.com), the visual effects division of ShootersInc, is serving as the exclusive effects vendor on the new HBO series, The Leftovers. The show takes place in the near future, following an unexplained event on October 14 that has left two percent of the world’s population missing. Dive is working on all 10 episodes of the show’s first season. Their VFX work includes set extension, character animation, seasonal modifications, weapons enhancement, digital make-up, and 3D effects, among other contributions.

“The Leftovers’ writers Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta are excellent storytellers,” says Dive VFX supervisor, Edwardo Mendez. “It has been a pleasure working with the Leftovers team, helping them visually tell their story. Damon has asked us to create this Leftover world, a world almost like the one we know, but with an off-kilter metaphysical slant. The show is filled with challenging visuals integrating with the production design and photography, which are gritty and beautiful at the same time. We are proud to be a part of it.”

Dive credits include MD, Nick Litwinko; VFX supervisor, Edwardo Mendez; VFX EP, Bob Lowery; VFX production supervisor, Andy Williams; and VFX producer, Ian Markiewicz. Jennifer Wessner is the VFX associate producer, and Lucas Andrei is the VFX editor. More than a dozen of Dive’s digital artists also contribute to the show.
