MOTU ships Digital Performer 8 for Windows

CAMBRIDGE, MA — MOTU (www.motu.com) is shipping Digital Performer Version 8 for Windows, which represents a major upgrade to the company’s flagship audio workstation software. The latest release offers 64-bit operation, a new video playback engine, Punch Guard confidence recording, 17 new plug-ins, 15 new UI themes, and new plug-in management features.

The 17 new plug-ins include two new classic guitar amp models, a bass cabinet model, several classic guitar pedals, modeled analog delay, a multi-band dynamic equalizer, a precision delay, a de-esser, the Subkick kick drum enhancer, and Springamabob, a modeled vintage spring reverb processor.

The new video engine allows for full-screen viewing of 720 or 1080 HD video clips on a primary or secondary computer monitor, or on a conventional HDMI or SDI video monitor connected to a MOTU video interface, such as the HD Express or HDX-SDI. 

Digital Performer’s Themes allow users to change the entire look of the software with one click. DP8 adds 15 new themes, including “Hi-Fi,” “Arctic,” and “None More Black.”

Digital Performer 8 is cross platform, supporting both Windows 7 and Mac OS X. The Mac version was previously made available. The Punch Guard confidence recording feature captures extra time before and after punch points. An in-line control panel helps conserves precious screen real estate. And multi-format plug-in management helps users organize, manage, and quickly search for plug-ins in multiple formats.

Pricing is $795 for the full version of Digital Performer 8. Competitive upgrades are $395. And AudioDesk upgrade is $395, and upgrades from a previous version is $195.
