'RIse of the Guardians' to see Dolby Atmos release

SAN FRANCISCO — Dolby has announced its sixth Atmos title for 2012 — the upcoming DreamWorks Animation feature Rise of the Guardians will be released by Paramount Pictures on November 21.

Rise of the Guardians is an epic and magical adventure that tells the story of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and Jack Frost — legendary characters with previously unknown extraordinary abilities. When an evil spirit Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the Guardians must join forces to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children everywhere.

Rise of the Guardians becomes the latest film to implement this new cinema sound technology. With the release DreamWorks Animation becomes the fourth Hollywood studio to adopt Dolby Atmos to date.  Re-recording mixer Jim Bolt along with Academy Award- winning re-recording mixer Andy Nelson and Academy Award-winning supervising sound editor, Richard King, will be designing the Dolby Atmos mix.

Other titles that have been presented in the Atmos format include Brave (Disney/Pixar), Taken 2, Chasing Mavericks and Life of Pi (Twentieth Century Fox) and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Warner Bros.).
