Post Asylum opens new Smoke suite

DALLAS – Post Asylum (www.postasylum.com) has opened a new Autodesk Smoke 2013 suite for finishing and visual effects. VFX veteran Michael “Pants” Sands will operate the new room.

Before joining Post Asylum’s motion design/VFX team in 2008, Sands held positions as a motion designer/animator, VFX supervisor and editor for several studios, including Post Op, Showcase, Pony Productions, and Fresh Produce. After 9/11, Sands joined the US Army Reserves, learned Arabic, served two tours in Iraq, earned his Jumpmaster certification and retired from the reserves as a Staff Sergeant in 2011.

He says the new suite was designed to be ideal for color, light and angle of view, as well as for style and comfort. Sands recently completed finishing and visual effects for Hasbro Rubik’s Race spots as well as two Yes! Putter spots for Adams Golf. Both campaigns are now airing in the US, Canada and the UK.

At press time, Sands was using the new Smoke suite to handle VFX and finishing for a Dallas Cowboys-themed Papa John’s spot featuring team owner Jerry Jones.
