MPC expands remote viewing network

LOS ANGELES — MPC (www.moving-picture.com) has established a new remote viewing network that expands its color services to several new US markets. In addition, the company has added its second US colorist, Ricky Gausis, who moves to LA, having worked previously in the London studio. He joins colorist Mark Gethin at the LA location. MPC’s London facility is home to another six accomplished colorists.

MPC LA's Ricky Gausis color graded this Florence + The Machine video, titled Spectrum, which was directed by David LaChapelle.

Through partnerships with local studios, directors, DPs and agencies can participate in grading sessions via dedicated viewing feeds from MPC locations. MPC has teamed up with Charlie Uniform Tango in Texas, Volt Studios in Minnesota, and Postmodern in Colorado to install remote viewing suites in Dallas, Austin, Minneapolis and Denver. The studios can link to MPC’s colorists in LA and London, or between any two rooms. MPC has a similar partnerships already in place throughout Europe.

The new additions are outfitted with monitors identical to those in the grading suites at MPC’s facility in Santa Monica. By way of a dedicated Internet feed and identically calibrated monitors, clients can grade with the colorist as though they were in the same room.

Several prominent agencies have already taken advantage of the remote services, including The Richards Group, Fallon, GSD&M and Crispin Porter + Bogusky. MPC hopes to expand the number of remote across the US over the next two years.
