IBC 2012: Facilis storage solutions incorporate Atto technology

AMSTERDAM — At IBC, Facilis Technology (www.facilis.com) is showing its Facilis TerraBlock shared storage and the Facilis shared file system, which now incorporate Atto Technology’s 16Gb/s Celerity fibre channel host bus adapters. The Atto technology provides high performance connectivity for Facilis’s shared storage products.

Atto's Celerity 16Gb Fibre Channel HBAs are based on the latest PCIe 3.0 technology to deliver the highest bandwidth and lowest latency available in the market, as well as reliable and scalable connectivity with twice the maximum throughput of previous solutions. They address the needs of streaming media content creation with faster and more efficient data transfers with Advanced Data Streaming technology for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux environments. Combining Atto's Celerity HBAs and the TerraBlock provides an integrated solution for all types of collaborative, cross-platform post-production environments.

"As 3D and 4K workflows become more prevalent, it's crucial that facilities have a high-bandwidth solution in place to facilitate playback of these large frame-based formats,” explains Facilis VP, James McKenna. “Using Atto's 16 Gb/s Celerity HBAs in conjunction with TerraBlock Shared Storage provides the ideal solution. With Atto's 16 Gb/s advancements, our customers are able to leverage much higher throughput without the software and hardware overhead of spanning ports."
