Cache-A shipping next-gen Prime-Cache5 for onset, studio MORGAN HILL, CA — Cache-A (www.cache-a.com), makers of archiving appliances, is now shipping an improved and more durable edition of its Prime-Cache5 desktop archive appliance. This next-gen version of Cache-A’s Prime-Cache5 is quiet… for both office and on-set use. It sports a new and toughened chassis, plus a built-in 2.5-inch HDD RAID, that significantly accelerates disk-based transfer speeds.

Cache-A has also upgraded its software to V3.1, which is based on 64-bit enterprise level CentOS 6.2, adding new LTFS capabilities. Cache-A’s Prime-Cache models are designed for in film and video pros. Prime Cache5 integrates into file-based workflows, and its connectivity options include a dual GB Ethernet port, plus two USB 3.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports. The new Prime-Cache5 costs $7,995USD.

- The built-in catalogue database enables Prime-Cache5 to remember every Cache-A LTO tape it has ever seen, and can be shared with all other Cache-A appliances on a network. It’s small footprint - 10.75” x 4.4” x 10.75 - allows it to be easily transported.
