SAN FRANCISCO — Autodesk (www.autodesk.com) has released Smoke 2013, the latest version of its Mac-driven editing and visual effects tool. The new release underwent a massive redesign to make it easier to use.
According to senior product marketing manager Marc Hamaker, Smoke 2013 is geared toward editors that need to do more than just edit. The redesigned release combines new editing workflow tools along with Autodesk’s proven visual effects tools. Pricing has also been restructured to make the tools more accessible to small and mid-sized facilities.
Smoke 2013 is priced at $3,495 and is now available. The redesigned user interface has a Mac feel to it, and the system is designed to work specifically on the latest generation of MacBook Pros and iMacs. Autodesk is also offering a free, 30-day trial version of the 64-bit solution.
Torque Creative, the in-house production arm of Mercedes Benz is the first customer to commit to the new release. The studio was one of 15,000 pro users that downloaded the free trial version of Smoke 2013 over the past few months.
