SAN RAFAEL, CA — Autodesk’s (www.autodesk.com) redesigned Smoke 2013 editing and VFX tool for the Mac is now available as a free trial download. The company introduced the all-in-one software at NAB in April. Smoke can help editors simplify workflow, centrally manage media, work interactively with high-res media throughout projects and deliver high-end content on the most recent generation of Apple iMac and MacBook Pro systems. The company plans to deliver Smoke 2013 this September 2012 for $3,495 per license.
Key features for the upcoming release include an intuitive UI; powerful node-based compositing via ConnectFX; a robust toolset for high-end finishing, 3D compositing, and color grading/matching; and stereoscopic 3D editing and effects tools. The software will be designed to run on most iMac and MacBook Pro systems using high-bandwidth Thunderbolt storage and IO. The free trial will work through September 15.
