IBC: Assimilate partners with Globalstor on Scratch Six demos

AMSTERDAM — Assimilate is using Globalstor Data Corporation’s (www.globalstor.com) ExtremeStor-DI as the video storage and playback system for demonstrations of its new Scratch Six system at IBC. Globalstor is a primary hardware partner for Assimilate’s 64-bit Win7 solutions. For the Scratch Six demos, Assimilate is using the ExtremeStor-DI to help showcase the new interactive DI grading, compositing and finishing suite.

“One of the key benefits of Scratch Lab and Scratch Six is the sheer performance of each system,” explains Miguel Ferros, director of product management for Assimilate. “These, combined with Globalstor’s ExtremeStor-DI, enable us to provide an extremely interactive, intuitive and collaborative experience to our artists.”

Globalstor’s ExtremeStor-DI system is an end-to-end solution for the review, versioning, color correction, conform and deliverables in on-location and VFX dailies ecosystems. Its base model capacity starts at just under 2.5TBs and is scalable up to 108TBs in a 6U rack-mount system. The Globalstor server delivers up to 3400 MBps of sustained data throughput with RAID 5 capabilities. Featuring uncompressed 4K, stereoscopic 2K and R3D resolution playback in a single solution (rack-mount or tower), ExtremeStor-DI also offers PCI-Express x16 video bus support, Nvidia Quadro 6000 SDI by PNY, and optional RAID hardware.
