EditFest NY set for June 10-11

NEW YORK — The American Cinema Editor's (ACE) EditFest NY will kick off on Friday, June 10 at the Director's Guild of America Theater in New York City. ACE EditFest NY is co-produced by Manhattan Edit Workshop (www.mewshop.com) and presents the editing and filmmaking community with two full days of discussions with some of the industry's most talented and well-respected film and television editors.

After check in and meet and greet, the weekend festivities will commence with a panel titled “The Lean Forward Moment.” The panel will be moderated by Norman Hollyn (Editor, Author and Head of USC Editing Track), and will feature film editors Larry Silk (Wild Man Blues, Pumping Iron) and Sabine Hoffman ( Sex and the City 1 & 2).

Following the panel will be an opening night cocktail party at the Le Parker Meridien Hotel on West 56th Street.

Saturday, June 12, will include a full day of panels and discussions. The line up at press time appears as follows:

 

10:00am – 11:30am: “The Documentary Edit: Finding the Moment”

Documentary editors discuss writing with images.

 

11:45am – 1:15pm: “Editing Animation: Pixar”

Moderated by Bobbie O’Steen (Author of The Invisible Cut & Cut to the Chase)

Toy Story 3 editor Ken Schretzmann, A.C.E., explains the Pixar process

 

1:15pm - 2:30pm: Lunch Break (boxed lunch included)

 

2:30pm – 3:45pm: “Greatest Movies You Never Saw”

 

4:00pm – 5:30pm: “Feature Editor Panel”

Moderated by Vincent LoBrutto (Author and Professor at SVA)

 

5:30pm: Say Goodbye to the Panelists and fellow EditFest Attendees with short mixer.

ACE EditFest NY 2011 tickets are available for $249 via the American Cinema Editor's Website. Students, members of partner organizations, Mewshop Six Week Alumni, and previous EditFest attendees can purchase tickets at a discount price of $149.
